Lines of Stillness | Paris
Curator Carolina Pasti, in collaboration with Marta Sala Éditions, is pleased to present the exhibition Lines of Stillness, a new body of work by London-based South African artist Teniqua Crawford shown for the first time in France.
The show will debut on October 20 at Marta Sala’s salon in the heart of Saint-Germain des Près. Teniqua Crawford will present a new body of work featuring sculptures, works on paper, and oil paintings. The work of the artist will interplay with a curated selection of furniture pieces by Lazzerini & Pickering, Herzog & de Meuron and Federico Peri.
Crawford's work draws from ancient and classical forms, merging direct observation with deep introspection. By working from life while also exploring memory, imagination, and the subconscious, she creates a body of work that is both powerful and profoundly evocative.
Through the echo of the human form, her work contemplates the depths of the human condition, translating timeless themes into a contemporary context. She moves between figuration and abstraction, where clarity and ambiguity meet in quiet dialogue. Her work delves into embodiment and evokes a sense of stillness, solitude, and timelessness. Each piece becomes a meditation on essence, presence and the spaces we inhabit within ourselves.
The strong dialogue between Crawford’s works and the surrounding design pieces creates a space of intimacy and reflection. The private setting is an invitation for a closer exploration of the relationships between the paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, where the bold design elements create striking contrasts of colour and line.
